Pacquaio offered to train in the Bahamas

To the victor, indeed, go all the spoils.

Filipino superstar Manny Pacquiao has received an invitation from a big resort owner in the Caribbean for him to hold part of his training in the island before flying to the United States.

According to Top Rank big boss Bob Arum, who was interviewed by Michael Marley of Examiner. com while vacationing south of France, business mogul Sol Kerzner has a standing invitation for the Pinoy icon to stay and train in his property in the Bahamas.

Kerzner owns the very popular Atlantis Resort in Nassau, Bahamas, venue of several Hollywood flicks and playground to the world's rich and famous.

“Arum expects to have contracts signed by both challenger Pacman and champion Cotto by Tuesday which is Aug. 11," according to Marley.

Tickets, according to Arum, will start to be distributed on August 17, where only about 3,000 tickets are available out of the close to 15,000 seats at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

“Everything has been decided and agreed to,” Arum said. “Cotto is defending the title and the weight limit to be 145 pounds. There are no disagreements or problems. Now, everything is cleared up,” Arum was quoted as saying, adding that the WBO welterweight title will be on the line.

Pacquiao is planning to spend part of his training outside of the United States to avoid paying heavy income taxes. Some of the places mentioned as possible training venues are Baguio City, Vancouver in Canada or the Otomi mountains in Mexico.

Both Arum and trainer Freddie Roach agree that Pacquiao will have the final say on training venue before proceeding to the Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles.

Pacquiao has yet to start training for his November 14 fight with Miguel Cotto in Las Vegas, as he is currently wrapping up endorsements, shooting movies, and other business commitments.

Cotto, meanwhile, has already started light training in Puerto Rico, and hopes to easily make the 145-lb weight limit set for the fight.
